Transitional Housing Program

Temporary Safe Shelter for Women and Children

What is Transitional Housing?

Our transitional housing program provides temporary, emergency shelter for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence. This is NOT permanent housing, but rather a safe place where you and your children can stay while we work urgently to find you a permanent, secure living situation.

⚠️ Important: This is TEMPORARY Housing

Safe Place Housing is designed as an immediate, short-term solution to get you out of harm's way. The average stay is up to 5 days while we work with local agencies, shelters, and housing programs to secure permanent placement for you and your children.

Purpose of Our Program

Emergency Escape

Length of Stay

Standard Stay: Up to 5 Days

The typical stay at Safe Place Housing is up to 5 days. This gives us time to assess your situation, contact partner agencies, and arrange permanent housing while keeping you and your children safe.

Extended Stay (If Necessary)

In some cases, if permanent placement has not been secured within 5 days, your stay may be extended while we continue working to find you a safe, permanent home. However, please understand this is an emergency shelter with limited space, and we must be able to help other families in crisis.

What Happens Next?

From the moment you arrive, we begin working to connect you with:

  • Local domestic violence shelters with long-term programs
  • Transitional housing programs (longer-term options)
  • Affordable housing assistance
  • Family shelters and support services
  • Legal advocacy and protection orders

This is NOT Permanent Housing

Please Understand:

Safe Place Housing is an emergency intervention designed to remove you from immediate danger. We are not a long-term shelter. Our goal is to quickly connect you with permanent housing solutions that will provide stability and safety for you and your children.

During your stay, you must work cooperatively with our staff and partner agencies to secure permanent placement. This may include attending appointments, completing applications, and following through with referrals.
