Who Qualifies for Safe Place Housing
Safe Place Housing is specifically designed for displaced families who are victims of domestic violence. Our program serves women and their children who need immediate, temporary shelter while fleeing an abusive situation.
This program exists to provide emergency refuge for families escaping domestic violence. If you or your children are in immediate danger from an abusive partner or family member, you may qualify for our transitional housing.
To qualify for Safe Place Housing, you must meet ALL of the following requirements:
You must be a current or recent victim of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, or family violence. This includes:
Note: We understand that not all abuse leaves physical marks. Emotional and psychological abuse are equally valid reasons for seeking safety.
This program is specifically for women and their children. We serve mothers (biological, adoptive, foster, or legal guardians) who need to escape with their children.
Age of Children: We accommodate children of all ages, from infants to teenagers.
You must be displaced from your home due to domestic violence and have nowhere safe to go. This means:
You must be committed to your safety and the safety of your children. This means:
Safe Place Housing is a substance-free environment. You must:
Note: If you are struggling with substance abuse, we can help connect you with appropriate treatment programs and alternative housing options that can better serve your needs.
This is temporary housing. You must:
Before being admitted, you must read, understand, and sign our House Rules & Resident Agreement. This includes:

If you do not qualify for our program, we will do our best to refer you to appropriate alternative resources.
The typical stay at Safe Place Housing is up to 5 days. This is emergency, short-term housing while we work to connect you with permanent placement.
If permanent housing cannot be secured within 5 days, your stay may be extended on a case-by-case basis while we continue working to find you a safe, permanent home. However, this is still temporary housing, and we must be able to serve other families in crisis.
Please understand that Safe Place Housing is an emergency intervention, not a permanent solution. You must be willing and able to work toward securing permanent housing during and after your stay with us.
If you checked YES to all of these, you likely qualify for our program. Check our current availability and review our house rules.
If you meet our qualifications, check our availability and review our house rules.
